March 7th, 2025 9:00am - Fredericksburg, Texas - WWII Museum

When: March 7th, 2025 9:00am

Where: Fredericksburg, Texas

Who: WWII Museum - https://www.pacificwarmuseum.org/

Landing craft vehicle personnel, or a “Higgins Boat,” was used to carry soldiers to the beach during WWII. Jeeps were used to shoot people, and they had machine guns strapped to them. DUKW is an amphibian truck that turns into a boat. If they got shot, they used the DUKW as a shield, basically to help prevent worse injuries. A jeep painted yellow, named “Aircraft Guide,” was bright colored so pilots could see it and follow them. The coolest vehicle was a tank. It’s small compared to most tanks. The machine gun on the bottom is the assistant gunner. Then there's a main gunner, which is super hot inside, and it was hot climate wise in their area, so they would get super hot super quick.

The battlefield in the World War 2 Museum was artificial but replicated to show the real movements of soldiers. A bunker is for shelter, which US soldiers had to use because the Japanese liked to attack. It can also be called a pillbox. The holes in the bunker were used for shooting outside forces. The Japanese specialized in attacking at night and carrying-out stealthily secured attacks on the US. The Pacific War was the war that Japan and the United Powers were at war, starting with the event of Pearl Harbor and its bombing by the US.

A PT boat can carry up to 12 to 16 guys.

All the PT boats were the same model. They just added things to them.

JFK was in the Navy and was killed in Dallas, Texas.

They don't like to just display the weapons and tools they used in WWII. They do it to honor the men and women who fought in the war.

Japanese built over 3,000 tanks during the war.

The big light they shine in the sky helps them find their opponents.

1:00 PM - Fredericksburg, Texas, USA - World War II Museum

When: March 9th @ 1:00 PM

Where: Fredericksburg, Texas, USA - World War II Museum

Who: World War II Museum - National Museum of the Pacific War

Fredericksburg, Texas is the first official stop of our world tour! Here we are visiting the National Museum of the Pacific War. The Uncle Sam balloon was donated to the war materials, and it is kept in the museum.

The first exhibit, dedicated to Pearl Harbor, contains a video. This video explains the events that took place during Pearl Harbor. The video uses pictures, videos, and voice recordings to tell the story. The museum obtains a Japanese midget sub, AJ-19.

The second exhibit had a room for the Japanese-Americans. The United States viewed the Japanese as a national threat. They were kept in concentration camps, and the only way the Japanese could leave was to join the American Army.

The third exhibit, dedicated to Jimmy Dolittle, had a huge plane in a room. Dolittle raiders lived in Comfort, Texas. Dolittle’s worst day was when he had to leave his plane to fight for his country. His best day was when his parachute worked and he was able to fly to safety.

This museum has many important artifacts and we were able to learn about each and every one of them. We also got to learn about many important people that served in the war, such as the Sullivan brothers. This museum contains so many facts that help shape our country into what it is today.

4:00PM Fredericksburg, Texas, USA

When: March 12th, 2020 @ 4:00pm CST
Where: Fredericksburg, Texas, USA
Who: World War II Museum

We talked to a WWII Museum in Fredericksburg, Texas. We were introduced to Mr. Degner. He told us stories about Edward Nimitz, who became a naval officer through hard work and dedication, after deciding he didn't want to go into work at a hotel like his relatives. He later gave us a tour of the museum, which included insights about how America went into the war at a disadvantage, our worries about Hitler, and how severely unprepared we were when Japan made a surprise attack (what is known as Pearl Harbor).  He took us around the museum and showed us many exhibits. We saw planes, artifacts, and other memories from the war. Mr. Degner told us lots of intriguing stories from WWII and Texas. Many artifacts from WWII were shown to us including weapons, bombshells, badges given to soldiers during that time, and airplanes that were actually used in the war! Near the end of the tour, Mr. Degner showed us one of the medals given to soldiers that showed dedication and hard work called "The Medal of Honor."
