March 6th, 2025 3:00pm - Sydney, Australia - Sydney Zoo

 When: March 6th, 2025 3:00pm (March 7th 8:00am in Australia)

Where: Sydney, Australia

Who: Sydney Zoo - https://sydneyzoo.com/

Now in the Sydney Zoo, we get several opportunities to see many different animals. The zoo has 830 different species and about 4,000 animals! The first animal we get to see is a female lizard. She eats Snails, Spiders, and Insects. She also has a blue tongue to protect her from predators. As of right now, it is 6:06 am in Sydney! The next animal we get to see is a child Python Snake named Fettucini! It likes to hang from roofs, catch bats, and climb trees. Seeing all these creatures is so cool and exciting! Along with all of these animals, we get to see a very unique insect called a Spiny Leaf Insect. This insect pretends to be a leaf for protection, while technically being an insect! We wanted to know if they had any Sugar Gliders, which they do, but unfortunately did not get to see one. As we go along, we get to see many Kangaroos lying and going about. The biggest Kangaroo they have is called a Big Red. The Kangaroo’s were eating some grass. They are strong, intelligent, and adorable! The red Kangaroos eat enriched food for improved health. While taking a look at the Kangaroos, we also got to see an Ostrich walking around. They also have an African Rhino and many other species. In the zoo, they have a sign with the medicinal uses of plants. Australia’s weather is very hot and humid. Have you ever wondered what zoos do when fights break out between animals? The zookeepers bang objects when fights break out. Moving along, one of the animals we were most excited to see are the Koalas! They sleep 20 hours a day! I wish I could do that. They eat only about the top or the tips of the leaves of trees. The Crocodiles in the Sydney Zoo prefer to be in water rather than land. Its head is half the length of the zoo keeper's body length! Thank you for everything we got to see. We enjoyed seeing all the animals and creatures. It was all very fascinating!

3:30 PM - Sydney, Australia - Sydney Zoo

When: March 9th @ 3:30 PM (March 10th @ 8:30 AM)

Where: Sydney, Australia

Who: Sydney Zoo

Next stop, Australia, Mate! We are going to be looking at the Sydney Zoo. At this zoo they have 4,000 individuals and 100-150 species. They have many endangered species there. The camel is extinct in the wild but there are many out in the world. Lions are really popular and so are meerkats. The zoo is about 40 acres in size. They have 6 venomous animals that are shown at the zoo.

Sydney is not really dangerous. They just have little small animals that should be known to stay away from. The weather has recently been really dry and warm. There has been more rain in the last 2 years than there has ever been before. The largest animal is the Blue Whale. Sugar gliders, when they are born, are about the size of a grain of rice. When they are in the wild they eat tree sap or wildflowers.

Sydney is 17 hours ahead of Texas. In the wild, if you try to pick up a koala you are probably going to get bitten or scratched. The most common animal at the zoo is the fish. Dingos are very good climbers, and they can only breed once a year. They are very close in relation to the dog.

12:00AM Sydney, Australia

When: March 13th, 2020 @12:00am CST

It is now 12:00am and we are Skyping Jess from the Sydney Zoo in Australia. The zoo that she works at holds many traditional animals such as lions, tigers, and koalas! She brought her adorable daughter around who gave her opinion on all the animals and gave us lots of laughs. She led the way to the kangaroos, where we learned about their diet and life style! The area is very open, and you can walk right up the animals and feed them! We got to view the kangaroos up close, and watch them nibble down a carrot. One of the kangaroos had a joey, a baby kangaroo, which we got to view from a distance. We met two other zoo keepers, Kyle and Tiara. Kyle gave us an amazing performance on the didgeridoo. After that, we walked to the Wombat enclosure. Wombats are marsupials and they're native to Australia. They have cute furry coats and a pouch for their babies that faces towards their little tails. We asked to see the dingos, so she took us to the enclosure where we met two dingos named Pocket and Rocket. We viewed a couple other animals like an echidna, emu, goats, a crocodile and a Tasmanian devil! We got to tour an amazing zoo and see the native animals of Australia! Thank you Jess!
